Wildfires, floods, and extreme heat are devastating communities across the globe.
The climate crisis isn't a distant threat — it's our reality. Right now, half the world's population lives under threat of looming climate catastrophe. The science says we have just five years left to significantly reduce our fossil fuel reliance and reach net-zero emissions, but Big Oil isn’t going to go quietly.
In 2020, the fossil fuel industry poured $139 million into American elections. In 2024, they spent $219 million. That money has real consequences: crushing climate solutions large and small in the halls of Congress, and all but ensuring the demise of our planet.

Thanks to the massive influx of Big Oil cash into the pockets of oily politicians, life-saving climate legislation like the Green New Deal and Build Back Better failed to become law. Politicians on Big Oil’s payroll have also killed bills to increase clean energy investments, and those that aimed to end tax breaks for the fossil fuel industry – both critical steps we must take if we want to avoid climate catastrophe.

‍The bottom line? Right now, the fossil fuel industry and their lobbyists use their deep financial pockets to buy politicians, control Congress, and prevent meaningful climate action.
